Wellbeing
Take root in a community
that supports every student.
Wellbeing Begins
with Belonging
Student wellbeing and pastoral care are at the heart of life at Rome International School (RIS). We believe children thrive when they feel safe, valued, and connected, which is why wellbeing is woven into every stage of the student journey.
Before students can rise, they need strong roots. At Rome International School, wellbeing provides that foundation. Through a caring community, trusted relationships, and personalised support, students develop the confidence, resilience, and sense of belonging that allow them to thrive in every aspect of school life.
As a proud member of Globeducate, RIS is committed to creating a safe, healthy learning environment where every student can flourish. Supporting wellbeing is one of Globeducate's three shared commitments, helping prepare young people to become global citizens who can shape the world.
Whole-School Commitment
to Wellbeing
Wellbeing is woven throughout every stage of school life at RIS. Every student knows their voice matters and that trusted adults are there to listen. Through dedicated pastoral care, regular reflection, and a whole-school commitment, we create a culture where every child feels heard, valued, and supported.
Twice a year, students from Years 2-13 complete age-appropriate wellbeing surveys, alongside staff surveys, helping us continually strengthen our approach. Our 12-member Wellbeing Team meets every half term to review priorities, respond to emerging needs, and guide wellbeing initiatives across the school.
Each term, our entire school community explores a shared wellbeing theme, with topics including belonging, empathy, emotional literacy, coping strategies, compassion, and gratitude.

Body Confidence Programme
RIS has been a pioneer school in the development of Globeducate's Body Confidence Programme for students aged 12 to 14. Delivered across Globeducate British International and ICS schools in Europe, the programme helps students build self-confidence, develop a positive body image, and learn healthy strategies for managing the challenges of adolescence.
Through the Globeducate Wellbeing Committee, our teachers work alongside colleagues across the network to share ideas, learn from one another, and continue developing initiatives that support every student's wellbeing.
